Hawaii Craftsmen Exhibition, Honolulu
The Hawaii Craftsmen Annual Exhibit in Honolulu was relocated this year to the new Downtown Art Center in Chinatown on Oahu. I produced images of the 75 finalists that would go into a catalog for the Event. I also shot and produced the Program video for the awards ceremony and well as the walk though video. This was one of the first public Art Exhibits in Honolulu during Covid-19. This year’s Juror was Sayre Batton, Director of the San Jose Museum of Art.
Christopher Edward (VP of Hawaii Craftsmen) was responsible for making the transition to the new space and navigating all the subtle nuances of presenting a world class exhibit on an island during a global pandemic, please have a look at his artwork, of which I am a fan.
Hawai‘i Craftsmen celebrates fine craft as a vital and enriching part of contemporary life and supports the creative growth of our member artists and the education of the general public to the value of the crafts. The mission is achieved through
- increasing public awareness and appreciation of fine craft through community outreach in many forms
- providing opportunities for continuing education and regular exhibition of member work
- sustaining a statewide community of craft artists by providing venues for shared experiences and communication
- promoting the organization and its members both within and without the State of Hawaii
